ACA Marketplace
The Health Insurance Marketplace, also known as the ACA Marketplace or exchange, is a service that helps people shop for and enroll in health insurance. The Affordable Care Act (ACA) created the Marketplace in 2010.
Short Term Health
Short-term health insurance, also known as short-term, limited-duration health insurance (STLDI), is a temporary health plan that can help fill gaps in coverage when someone is transitioning between health plans.
It can be a good option for people who are uninsured, between jobs, or recently graduated from college.

November 1: Open Enrollment starts.
December 15: Deadline to enroll coverage that starts January 1.
January 15: Open Enrollment ends. Last day to enroll for coverage that starts February 1.
After January 15, you can only get a health plan if you qualify for a Special Enrollment Period.
Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) and Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) health plans differ in several ways, including cost, network coverage, and flexibility:
Cost: HMOs are generally more budget-friendly than PPOs, with lower monthly premiums, out-of-pocket costs, and sometimes no deductible. PPOs typically have higher monthly premiums, out-of-pocket costs, and deductibles.
Network coverage: HMOs have narrower networks of in-network providers, while PPOs generally have larger networks. With an HMO, you can only see in-network providers unless it's a medical emergency. With a PPO, you can see in-network or out-of-network providers, but out-of-network care may cost more.
Flexibility: HMOs are less flexible than PPOs. For example, HMO policyholders may need a referral from their primary care doctor to see an in-network specialist, while PPO members don't need prior approval or a referral. HMOs may also focus on prevention and wellness, and provide integrated care.
When you have Marketplace insurance, you'll pay your premiums directly to the insurance company — not the Marketplace. Your coverage won't start until you pay your first premium. Contact your plan to find out how they accept payment.
You can report changes to the Marketplace 3 ways: online, by phone, or in person — not by mail.
